My introduction into nutrition started when my daughter was 5 years old. At her checkup, the pediatrician told me she has allergies. I took her to an allergist who told me she was allergic to dust. I did what any parent would do, covered her mattress with a dust cover, bought a air filter for her room and vacuumed every day. Her doctor put her on 2 medications - zyrtec and nazonex - a nose spray. I was told to give her the nazonex at night as it might stunt her growth - I learned later that kids grow while they sleep. I kept her on these medications for a year or so when my middle daughter Kimberly starting showing the same signs as Kelly. When I called the doctor I was told its probably the same thing as Kelly and lets put her on the same medication. This didn’t sit right with me, why would I give medication to my daughter when the doctor didn’t even give her an exam. I was getting frustrated and was motived to find a better way. The thought of both my daughters on medication for the rest of their lives made me angry.
I started doing research on healthy eating and organic food. I switched the milk I bought to organic milk and Kelly’s symptoms started getting better. Wow, there was something to this! I bought a bunch of cookbooks and started cooking all our meals while I stopped buying pre-packaged meals. I bought anything organic I could find - back in 1999/2000 organic was not as available as it is now. Little by little Kelly started getting better and better and soon was off all medication. I never gave the mediation to Kimberly but her symptoms disappeared also. When my third daughter Kaitlynn was born, she started getting numerous ear infections. I knew milk was as the root cause of this and as soon as I stopped buying milk, her ear infections stopped. As the girls grew, I always prepared their meals and packed their lunches. I am happy to say the girls are grown now and are on no prescription medications.
I dove in, learning all I could about nutrition, buying every book I could get my hands on. I took nutrition classes and received my CNC, Certified Nutritional Consultant, with the American Association of Nutritional Consultants. I started seeing clients and helping people lose weight, feel better and gain their health and vitality back.
I recently completed the Hippocrates Lifestyle program receiving the Hippocrates Lifestyle Certification in organic, raw and living food, plant based nutrition and lifestyle medicine protocol of Hippocrates Health Institute.
It gives me such joy to be able to share this knowledge with everyone.
Fun facts: I am a Harry Potter fan and will watch the movies over and over. I have a book obsession and love to read. I usually read health and spiritual books but love all kinds. I have a quirky sense of humor and love silly jokes: why did the banana go to the doctor: he wasn't peeling well. What do you say to a nut when it sneezes: cashew.
